Flying Piggies

What an eventful weekend! On Friday we went to watch Greg's lacrosse game (and got caught in a little downpour, but the stats keepers let us in the press box to watch part of the game to keep Lil' dry!) We had her under an umbrella before it really started coming down and it was funny to see how amazed she was at everything. I think part of her amazement was in seeing the rain, but then also being all huddled under the umbrellas and wondering what the heck was going on.

Here's a pic of Lily staying dry with Grandma and Grandpa Cole.

Then Saturday morning we went down to watch Rachel's "kids" run the mile (more about that below). Later that day our friends Kelly and Joel came in town to run the Flying Pig on Sunday! We decided to have friends over for pasta/pizza on Saturday night and to relax before the big day. We had so much fun swapping baby stories and just talking about everything going on in our lives. Like Greg said after everyone left, we just laughed the whole time. And Fox sure can get everyone rolling with his stories!
.
Onto Sunday...as long as it wasn't raining, we planned on going downtown to cheer everyone on. Luckily, the weathermen got the forecast totally wrong, and there was very little rain that morning. We went down to near the finish line and saw a number of friends complete the 1/2 and then got to see David finish his marathon in 2:42 (his new PR!) That's a 6:12 pace. Gulp. I don't think I could run 1 mile in that let alone a full marathon...up all the rolling Cincy hills. Lily was very proud of her uncle.
We didn't get to see them finish, but Kel and Joel hit their goal time and "had a little fun" doing it too! Rachel ran a great race and was doing really well until her legs cramped up around mile 19. She wasn't able to complete it, but made a smart decision by not risk getting injured.

The biggest accomplishment happened on Saturday - when about 30-40 kids from Rachel's school ran the mile race (one of the many events of the Flying Pig marathon weekend). Rachel had been training with the little 3rd-5th graders every MWF for months. These kids were prepared! They all finished...and one of her boys came in first place! It was so neat to see how much they looked up to her. What good memories they'll have from the event...and good habits they're getting into at an early age.

Here are bunch of pictures from the weekend and a few pictures of our little flying piggie at her first marathon. Watch out runners...Lily will be out there soon!
