Walking!

My videos won't load so these pictures from tonight after dinner will have to do for now! After 1 day she has turned into a walking machine!
I love the picture above because you can barely see it, but her little index finger is pointed up. She did this when she heard a neighbor's dog barking. Whenever she hears any dog barking/plane overhead/birds chirping/sudden noises...her little finger goes up and she says, "oh!" So cute.

We've been doing so many fun things with Lily that it's hard to keep up on the posts! Greg is off for spring break this week so I took off too! It's been so fun spending time together and although Lily is a little under the weather (we took her to the doc this am and she has an ear infection), she didn't let that get in the way of her walking solo tonight for the first time! She's been walking between us and from couch to ottoman etc. but hadn't taken a bunch of steps unassisted up 'til now.

It was a funny circumstance, too - I was reading through the paper and glanced up to see her stand up and walk over to Boomer's "bed" (his big doggie pillow) saying "uh oh, uh oh" while pointing. I looked over to see if Boomer was there; he wasn't. But, her pink blanket had fallen off the couch and onto the pillow. I yelled in to Greg that she had just walked on over on her own and was just standing there! We were both clapping and telling her "good girl!" She probably thought we were nuts. Her walking just that short distance to Boomer's bed must've given her the boost of confidence she needed to then do laps around the dining room table and check out all the new things within a new arm's reach.

I know a lot of other little ones start walking earlier than 17 months, but Lily is doing great on her own (sweet) time! We know she's following her own schedule and we couldn't be prouder of her. And she looks like the cutest little peanut toddling all over!

I captured a few videos her first night of solo walking. Of course 2 of the best videos won't load, but the 3rd one will. It's still cute! Hope you don't get as dizzy watching as I did!

Playing Part 2!

Little treadmill at the museum! She's training to race her Uncle Dave and Aunt Rach one day.
Ari and his mom Sarah.
Ari the tool man tailor.
Splash!
I love that you can see her hair is soaking!
She loved these big guys.
Not sure which one is having more fun!?
Here's a video of Lil' splashing!

Playing

Over the winter we took Lily to the Children's Museum quite a bit. Last year she would've been a tad too little, but now she just loves it! She especially likes going with her buddies Peyton, Ari and Carter.
Lily sporting the smock.
She loves the water!
I love how her smock goes to her feet. Everybody was laughing as she walked by.
She also loves anything with a wheel.
Now onto playing in the new wagon (thanks grandma and grandpa!)
Helping daddy put it together.
We took her out so Greg could put the final touches on it. In this pic she's signing "more" because she wanted to get back in.
Monitoring the progress.
Giving her penguin a drink.
Finally!
All aboard!
Watching it snow outside from the comfort of her wagon.

Lily Having Fun

Puzzles! Lily and cousin Atticus putting together the puzzle.
I had to add a couple photos of the huge icicles hanging off the porch. We've been creative and had a lot of fun playing indoors, but we're ready for spring!
Where's Waldo?
Showing off her tooth. Fun playing in the tub!
She loves putting the bucket and purse on her arm.
Here's a video of Lily scooting followed by her cousin Atticus imitating her.

Communicating

Although she's not totally talking yet, Lily sure does know what she wants and is able to communicate in her own way! She knows some of the basic signs and has even made up a few of her own (points to her nose = kiss, hand to ear = phone). She has always been good at poining to what she wants which she does all the time. She'll point and put her hand to her head if she hears a dog or plane outside.

She has also been "talking" more now (babbling) but it sounds different when she's reading a book or she thinks she's really talking to us. She'll even have inflections in her babbling and will watch us to see how we respond (by talking back to her of course!)

Here's a video of Lily "reading" her book...in her own Lily language...

Getting Dressed...and Teeth!

Trying to get a close up of the tooth! She now has 2 on the bottom and all 4 on top are ready to pop any day!
She insisted on wearing her glasses on top of her head while eating.
After attempting to put the shirt on, she plopped it on her head. Usually she can get her arms in the sleeves, but if not, on the head it goes...
Look at that pretty girl!
Signing "more" during lunch. More...cheese, juice, yogurt...

Showing Grandma Cole my cool shades!

Lily now wants to try and do everything herself - from eating yogurt to getting dressed and putting on her shoes. We try to let her do as much as she can (within a reasonable amount of time...sometimes you just have to get out the door!)
