So this past week my good friend Shannon came to visit from Manchester, NH. We went to grade school and high school together but she was a year ahead of me so we didn't know each other too well in grade school, but became really good friends in h.s. when we started playing soccer on the same teams (wahoo MND and Sycamore Arsenals!) We then did just about everything together!

After college she moved out to NH and met Dave...so I don't think she'll be moving back to the 'Nati anytime soon...unless I can convince Dave that the Reds/Bengals are a much better sports combo than the Sox/Patriots. Hmmm...don't think that's gonna fly.

Anyway, Shabba was in town to visit her sister and we got to spend the day together. My mom is retired now but subs down at St. Gabes from time to time (where we went to grade school!) and she had to sub that day so we went down to visit. Shannon hadn't been back since 8th grade graduation and it had been a few years for me too. It's funny how everything looks so small now. I guess when you're little everything just seems so big!

We went into the "gym" room and the cafeteria and a flood of memories came back. Shannon remembered the nun at recess that would aways ring a big bell when it was time to come inside...and sitting right there on the windowsill...the very same bell! We were cracking up.

Anyway, it was great to see her and catch up on everything. We went to visit her last year when my brother and Rachel ran the Boston Marathon and I was only 14 or so weeks pregnant. It was nice having Shannon be able to finally meet Lily! And you know you have a good friend when you see each other and you can "pick back up" right where you left off. Like with Kelly and Joel moving to NY, I have a really hard time when good friends move away. But I guess it makes seeing each other that much sweeter.

Miss you Shabba! But I'm so happy for you and your big news. :) I won't mention it here until you've had a chance to tell everyone, but we couldn't be happier for you. Looking forward to seeing you again soon...
